The Virginia PSI real estate exam generally includes 80 national or general real estate questions and 40 Virginia state specific questions.  There are usually some extra questions in test phase that do not count toward your total score.  You must obtain 75% on both portions of the exam.  The exam is $60 plus an additional $62 for the required fingerprinting/background check that can be done at the same time and place as the exam. The most common method of registration is to create an account online at www.psiexam.com and select your location and date for your exam.  You may also call them at 1-800-733-9267.  For many who have a current out-of-state real estate license and plan to apply by reciprocity, the registration cannot be done online but can be done by fax after providing the required proof of current license in another state and obtaining permission fro DPOR to take the Virginia portion of the exam only.  You may pay by credit card or money order. You may check the current schedule of PSI exams with locations and date at any time.  (On the Organization drop down list, click Government/State Licensing Agencies and then Virginia).  However, you need to pass the course or otherwise qualify before you can sign up for the exam.   PSI exam centers are equipped to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). PSI has a complete information guide called the Candidate Information Bulletin with detailed information for the Virginia exam.  They have a section on testing center regulations when taking the exam which are important to review as well as an FAQ about the test center and taking the exam. Our information is a summary of what we consider to be the basic general information, so we recommend using the links provided and contacting us or PSI for more information.  PSI was selected by DPOR to administer the Virginia real estate exam and is not physically located in Virginia. For license related questions, you may contact us or DPOR, the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.  DPOR is the parent agency of the Virginia Real Estate Board.   Act Web Real Estate School is a license Virginia proprietary real estate school, approved by DPOR to provide the pre-license course for Virginia.
